Composites with modified surface optical properties for space applications – OPTIKOM

Development of a new composite material with modified optical properties of the surface for space applications. The composite will be developed in two versions: the first type will have the minimum reflectance and the second type will have the maximum reflectance in the visible and infrared spectrum. The advantage of newly developed materials will be mainly in new features and properties in the field of protective coatings consisting of thin films and nanolayers applied to composites, which are the high demanded characteristics for space products.

Experimental verification of space products and techologies on nanosatellite VZLUSAT-1

Development, manufacturing, qualification and experimental verification of products/technologies in orbit (i.e. IOD – In-Orbit Demonstration). Verified products and technologies in the framework of this project: radiation hardened composite housing (RHCH) of electronics with high thermal conductivity, composite solar panel, an array of hollow corner reflectors with solid optical surface and sensors of an external environment. TTS participated primarily with design and coating of RHCH and trace moisture sensors as water vapour outgassing sensors.

Composite Materials with Low Volatile Content and Radiation Resistance for Astrophysics and Space Applications

Research of materials with long-term shape stability, low volatile content, controlled thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion that are resistant against radiation and vibrations. The materials are based on 5M products used in aviation and modified with the participation of TTS to meet the requirements for materials used in space.

Advanced technologies for microelectronics and sensors based on the combination of the high-tech energy beams technologies (laser beams, ion beams, UV light and microwave exposures) and those of micro- and nano-films deposited by vacuum, plasma and wet processes as well. The selectivity of processes accompanied by a high resolution of lines and gaps of the film structures is of primary importance in the development.

X-ray multilayer mirrors replication technology

Development of a technology of preparation of super smooth aspheric X-ray reflecting structures for manufacturing rotationally symmetric X-ray mirrors with diameter 0,5 mm – 80 mm and length 10 – 100 mm. Characteristic of these X-ray mirrors will allow applications in highly demanding instruments. Designed technology will be based on multilayer deposition on super smooth substrates and their replication on rotationally symmetric X-ray mirrors with help galvanoplastic methods.

The goal of the project is to create Centrum which will be able to further develop and practically apply excellent results of Czech research in the field of X-ray optics. Centrum will focus on the development and manufacturing technologies primary in following directions: design and development of new technology for manufacturing of super smooth replicated multilayers with microroughness below 1 nm, design and manufacturing of a new generation of microfocus X-ray mirrors, design and starting production of new X-ray sources with high brightness and efficiency.
